Complete ALTA/NSPS 2016 survey of the existing Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights, MI composed of 119 acres of land and contains total rentable area 1,520,287 square feet. Survey consisted of complete mapping of the mall to include all appurtenances which included but not limited to the following: building location (complete mapping of the existing mall building), underground and overhead utilities (segregated by type, material and size), parking (segregated by owner and type, ie. regular, handicap, compact, etc.) and easements (including onsite and offsite).
The use of unmanned aerial system (UAS or drone) technology was employed to supplement the ground survey efforts. This utilization aided in confirming items shot in during the ground survey, accurately locating items that were missed during the ground survey (without having to revisit the site), accurately mapping of all parking spaces (7,654 spaces) without having to shoot pavement marking in the field and providing real time reference to the site during the office mapping phase of the project. Flown at 300’ AGL, dataset consisted of 3000+ images.
